While we move through the summer of 2021 there is some uncertainty about what Rotary will continue to provide the human connections that Rotary members valued over the years. Although the mantra of hands faces will certainly be part of our ongoing routine it is apparent that trust is growing and connections between face-to-face are being made. Rotary has, however, changed. The months that will lead up to summer 2021 there's still a lot of uncertainty regarding what we can do to provide services to our community, which includes the valued human connection enjoyed by Rotary former members. The phrase "hands face space" is expected to be one of the routines, but it's clear that there's a rising optimism and the need to be face-to-face with people. Rotary, however, has changed. Rotary's network creates bonds lasting. The pandemic served as our catalyst to adopt technological advances. To ensure that we can continue to hold our meetings online, we've reintroduced service as well as social gatherings in a face-to-face setting. To build the foundation for a brighter future for Rotary and our members, we've tapped into opportunities created by the pandemic and our old routines. A recent Rotary survey showed that about 75% clubs were planning to carry on with their usual business. You can listen to the report here. Amanda Watkin is the General Secretary of Rotary Magazine. It was wonderful to learn that during an earlier Rotary survey, 75% were still looking forward to their normal activities and community projects which were previously helpful to communities throughout Great Britain. I am equally proud of the fact that the Rotary Support Centre team is continuing to provide valuable resources which help to promote these initiatives and to keep the facilities that keep our members and public secure; compliance and insurance are important We know that volunteering through the network of Rotary will create lasting bonds based on the shared experience of volunteering time to serve the community benefits. It is incredible to see the way our members are able to come up with creative solutions for many of the toughest challenges. I'm so grateful to be a part of the team. Rotary allowed me to join in 2002. Rotary, like so other organizations, has provided me with a solid network of people with the same values as me and who have formed genuine friendships in the last 20 years. It is important to invite our your family and friends to Rotary so that we can really make a difference.
